Kansas Center for the Book

The Kansas Center for the Book is a program at the State Library of Kansas and the state affiliate of the Library of Congress Center for the Book. The Kansas Center for the Book exists to highlight the state’s literary heritage and foster an interest in books, reading, and libraries.

Great Reads from Great Places: As part of the annual National Book Festival, each state selects one book as the "Great Reads from Great Places".

Kansas Notable Books: Annual recognition of 15 outstanding books by Kansas authors or about Kansas.

Kansas Reads to Preschoolers: Special events every November to highlight the importance of reading to young children. 

Summer Reading Program: Each summer we provide specialty books and you can check at your local library for events.
